Tecoma capensis

Other names are Cape Honey honeysuckle, Tecomaria capensis, Bignonia capensis. Phonetics- (tek-OH-muh, ka-PEN-sis). Belongs to Bignoniaceae family. 

USA Hardiness Zone (9a – 11). Category vines and climbers. Soil ph- mildly acidic/ alkaline/ neutral. Drought tolerant.  Full sun to partial shade. 

Category vines and climbers. Handling plant may cause skin irritation/ allergic reaction. Closely related to true honeysuckle. Decorative plant may be used used for screening.  

Bark powder has medicinal uses. 


Bloom red- orange in color.


Can be tamed to a hedge.
Foliage evergreen. 



Plant to attract to BBB/ sun birds. 
(BBB- Birds, Bees, Butterflies)

 Nectar filled tubular - bottles for BBB.

Height 2-3 M, same is width/ spread approximately.

Melody at sunset.
