Agave angustifolia. Common names are; Caribbean agave, Century Plant, Mescal Agave, Narrowleaf Agave 'Marginata'. Phonetics – (a gah vee, en gus T foh lee uh).
It belongs to Asparagaceae family. USA Hardiness Zone- (10- 12). Needs full sun. Foliage color- blue, green, yellow. Drought tolerant. Bloom time summers. Attractive to BBB. Work on plant with extreme caution. Spine edges and pointed ends. Grown outdoors, bloom color – chartreuse (yellow Green), dark purple/ black. Bloom appears in 10- 15 years. Propagation by dividing rhizomes, tubers, corms/ bulbs. Offsets and Seeds. Has many medicinal uses- which may be admitted under expert guidance. Roots used in soaps substitute. Sticky sap is used in whitewash.
