Butea frondosa or Dhak tree- Gold Orange Beauty Shower

Flame of the Forest, Dhak Tree


  • Botanical name is Butea monosperma or butea frondosa. Belongs to Papilionaceae family. Its common names are Flame of the Forest, Parrot Tree, Bastard Teak. Local name is Dhak. Lahore climate is conducive for this plant. (USA Hardiness Zone 10a- 11). It is an ornamental tree which has many medicinal properties associated.  Has winter interest.

 
Bloom colors- scarlet, gold, red, orange.

Ashoka Tree- Showing colors now

Ashoka Tree

  • Its botanical name is Saraca (sar-AK-a) declinata. Common names are Red Saraca, Sorrow less Tree. This plant is blooming in Jinnah Garden. It can grow in climate of Lahore (USA hardiness Zone 10). Belongs to Caesalpiniacae family.


An evergreen tree.Can grow up to 40 feet.

King Palm or Alexandra Palm- A princely look to appreciate!

Archontophoenix (R Kan toh Fee nix) Alexandrae is the botanical name of this palm. Common names are Alexandra Palm, Alexander Palm, King Palm. In local market it is named Alexandra or King palm. It belongs to Arecaceae family.  It can thrive well in Lahore, (USA hardiness Zone 9b-11).  
Could attain a height of 40 feet.
