Cycas revoluta

  • Botanical name is Cycas revoluta. Common names are Cycad, Japanese Sago Palm, King Sago Palm, Sago Cycas and Sago Palm. Local name is Kanghi palm Grow well in Lahore (USA Hardiness Zone 8b- 11). Belongs to Cycadaceae family.

  • Botanical name is Quisqualis (kwis-KWAL-iss) indica (IN-dee-Ka). Common name is Rangoon creeper. Local name is jhumka bail as of its drooping clusters of flowers. A well sighted climber in Lahore. (USA hardiness Zone 10a- 11). Belongs to Combrataceae family.

  • Botanical name is Ailanthus(Aey, len, thiss) altissima. Common names are Tree of Heaven, Chinese Sumac and Stink Tree. It grows in Lahore. (USA hardiness zone 4a- 8b). It is an invasive plant and not recommended as a house plant. It is sighted in Jinnah Garden. Belongs to Simaroubaceae family. Used for silkworm, medicines and Chinese cuisine.
