- Botanical name is Mangifera indica. Has many varieties and cultivars. Common name is Mango tree. Local name is Aam. Grows well in Lahore and has some orchards, (USA Hardiness Zone 9b- 11). Used in various curries and eateries as raw and ripe. Mangoes of Pakistan have cherish-able taste and relishing flavor. Belongs to Anacardiaceae family. Has medicinal attributes.
