Phyllanthus emblica
- Botanical name is Phyllanthus (fil-LAN-thus) emblica. Synonym is P. officinalis. Vernacular name is Indian Gooseberry. Local names are Amla and Aonla. Cultivated in Lahore (USA Hardiness Zone 10a- 11). Has many medicinal uses. Also called fruit of heaven and nectar plant. Rich source of vitamin C. Belongs to Phyllanthaceae family.
