Butia capitata- Jelly palm 

It is native to south America. Belongs to Arecaceae family. A beautiful palm to beautify any landscape. Suitable for warmer regions. It grows to the height of 20- 35 feet. Deployment is 10 to 15 feet. US Hardiness zone- (9-11). Use fertile, moist and well drained soil. Average water requirement, drought resistant when established, 




Full sun. Tolerates part shade. Hardiest of feather leaved palms.


A stout trunk - grows up to 15 ft tall and 1.5 feet diameter, 



Leaf color is grayish green, it curves inwardly towards trunk.
At times dark green or silvery green. 

Yatly palm- Residential area ameliorated by adding a palm.

Ripe fruit is a favorite of  honey bees.



Propagation through seeds.
No serious disease or pest issues.

Ripe fruit pulp is used to make jam and jellies.





Pindo palm- Has yellowish scented flowers,


3 palms planted equidistant in a row.
